3.152 indirect injection puts out about 35hp as opposed to P3 33hp so you might get away with that. D3.152 and AD3.152 are, I believe, 41 -47 hp depending on precise model. May be a good project but possibly not the most economically viable swap.

Don't you think you are pushing your luck with that conversion, the bhp that engine pushes out will rip the back end out unless you drive it like on eggshells I think, we used to have problems with the P3 conversion so I am sure the A3-152 will be even worse. I like the idea though, but just what it could do bothers me.

I agree with John. Justnot a smart idea for the petrol version transmission but might just be OK with a TEF back end. Certainly not to be attempted with the 6V petrol versions having the small back axles. Why not put a 3152 into a clapped out 4 cylinder FE 35?

Note also even some of the 12v petrol versions had the small back axles; they didn't beef them up until well into the 12v production run.
(Don't know the crossover point though).

There was a modification to rear axle at serial number 350,000...12v started at 200,000 These numbers are for TE type tractors not TO type

All fair comments, Id agree. However didnt some of the american 20's and 30's run flat head v8/6 engines, what torque and horsepower did they put out. The only reason for puting an A3-152 into an existing p3 conversion is to preserve the p3!. Parts aint easy or cheap. The tractor would be used mainly on the road in top, so only the rear axle would be "directly engaged". Perkins assure me that the flywheel will Bolt straight on. Ive been given figures of 35 hp from perkins although many a3's seem to be 41 hp. Thanks for your comments

35hp 3.152 is the one that has the injectors set at 90 degrees in cylinder head. Others have injectors at an angle. If you do it, please post the details of what had to be altered or changed to fit it. I wonder about engine length and whether the drag links and radius arms would need lengthened? If engine is shorter difference could be sorted by a spacer fitted at front but if its longer links would need changed. Would P3 starter fit?

David, Thanks for the info re injectors, my engine does have injectors at 90 degrees to the head (vertical). The whole point of this conversion is that my TA engine is longer in effect than the A3-152. As stated before it is likly that the flywheel will bolt straight on. there only remains an adapter plate at each end. My A3 has brackets/bellhousing that would make this easer.

Let us know how you get on. Sounds like it could be quite feasible.
