I got an email from the sherrif's office John Hopson is finally in jail. Thanks to the USPS inspectors he is where he belongs. Sold me parts he didn't have, cashed check, made excuses for never shipping parts. Tried contacting local law and didn't get much help. Contacted the Feds since accepting payment by mail is mail fraud and found out they were already in behind him. Thanks to all on here that gave me information way back when that helped point me to the right place to find him. Actually got my money back too!

Any chance the hopson's are at it again?? Yesterday, a Dr. michael Hopson tried to sell a Jeep to a friend of mine on ebay. It was clear that the description of the vehicle and the price that he was asking did not add up. When she began to inquire about the jeep, he asked for her full name, address, ebay i.d., and phone number....none of which he needed to make the sale. She found out yesterday evening that the ebay account wasn't even his. She recieved a phone call from the owner of the ebay account to inform her that it was not her jeep and someone had hacked into her account a couple of days ago. Said he was located only a short distance from where my friend lives so she asked to drive up and look at it. He rejected the idea and kept insisting she send him $2500 and he would give her his address so she could pick it up. He even sent her an invoice that was supposed to be an ebay invoice. Turns out it was a fake. It was just another of his attempts to get her to send the money. Fishy

UPDATE:

If you are receiving this e-mail, you have been identified as a victim of fraud committed by John Hopson and/or Mary Hopson between 2005 and 2008.

On April 30th, 2008, John and Mary Hopson of Cookeville, TN were indicted by a federal grand jury in the Middle District of Tennessee. The Hopson’s were named in a fourteen count indictment charging mail fraud, wire fraud, access device fraud, and aggravated identity theft. If convicted of the aggravated identity theft charge, the Hopson’s face a MINIMUM of two years incarceration.

The Hopson’s were arrested at their residences on May 2, 2008 and made a court appearance in Nashville on May 5, 2008. At that time, they were released on bond. A trial date is yet to be determined. If convicted, the Hopson’s may be ordered to pay restitution.

For updates on this case, please refer to the letter you should have already received regarding victim rights. It should refer you to a Department of Justice website requiring PIN access. If you do not have your PIN, contact the Department of Justice Victim Internet System at (866) 625-1631.
