Can somebody explain the difference between an International 806 diesel and a Farmall 806 diesel? From photos, it looks like they are nearly identical. I think the Farmall version may have taller rear wheels.

Is the International the "industrial" version? Will they both have the same features (TA, etc)?

Also, the one I'm considering has a white grill, which I have not seen before.

the one in your picture has the international/ wheatland fixed front axle. it sits back under the radiator further than the farmall front axle. the platform and fenders look to be from a farmall. the wheatland 806s had the round fenders, with a low cowl between the fenders and the steering/gauges etc pedestal. my wheatland has steps on the left front so you can get on by stepping over the cowl. my I806 also has 18.4x34 back tires and 7.50x20 front tires. my rear wheel centers look like the ones in your picture. wheatlands generally didn't have 3 point or fast hitch, just pto and remote hydraulics. as to your grille, maybe someone wanted it to look like a 1206.

Hmm- I was wondering why it had the grill headlights and the fender headlights. Must be a bit of a frankenstein machine.

It does have a 3 point, 540 & 1000 ptos, and a single set of remotes.

I need it for haying, so it is not crucial that it be perfectly historically accurate. This is the only 806 grille I've seen that was white, so it must have been painted.

Oh yeah, International and Industrial have the headlights at the top of the grille, built in.

Farmall has adjustable tread width front and rear axles.

International has a fixed front axle (I think the rear might be, too).

Farmall generally came with 18.4x38 rear tires.

International had 23.1x26 rears (at least ours did).

Farmall came without fenders, or optional flat-top fenders.

International had big, full, rounded fenders to keep the dust off the operator's platform.

Farmall you mount from the side.

International you mount from the rear, sides/front of platform have dust shields.

An Industrial would be labeled as a 2806, generally painted yellow, heavier-duty front axle, different wheel sizes, should have a foot accelerator and possibly different gear ratios/speeds (and a possible shuttle/reverser?)

Certainly not all Farmall 806's are narrow front- but from this photo, I can see that it does appear to be a little higher off the ground. I guess this means the tires are bigger as well. The front axle appears to be more forward on the Farmall.

And I guess those are wheel weights I see on the International?

The Internationals have a heavier cast wheel hub.

Internationals are commonly referred to "Western," "Wheatland" or "Standard Tread" tractors, meant for pulling tillage equipment on the wide-open fields in the Midwest where grain crops like wheat are commonly grown.

Farmalls are meant for working row crops like corn and beans.

By 1976, IH dropped the Farmall name, and the Wheatland style tractors. There wasn't anything an International could do that a Farmall couldn't, and cab technology had progressed to the point where the big round fenders were obsolete.

as you can see the international version sits lower to the ground, this is because most if the internationals of this period were standard tread or industrials, the farmall version was the row crop version. essentialy the same except for the rear wheels and the front bolster, they both would be very useful tractors.
