I would like some advice on an H I might buy, please. When I took it for a test drive in high gear, It didn't smoke badly and wasn't running particularly roughly, but seemed like it was underpowered or starving for fuel or something, and couldn't easily get up to full speed. What could this be attributable to?
Also found a leak in carborator. do you buy a carb kit or something to fix the leak? Also a real speed wobble in front row crop tires...can this be fixed or reduced in severity?

the underpower could be any number of things. run a compression check see what you get. all cylinders should read within 10 % of each other. compression will vary depending on head and pistons, but anywhere from 125-175 psi. if thats good, could either be carb related or distributor/mag timing needs set. spark advance could be sticking too. front end wobble is caused by lot of things too, bent rim, worn steering gears, worn bolster bushings, worn steering u-joints too.

Thanks very much for the advice. Will check these recommendations out. this is our first time tractor and frankly using it for pulling a small boat out of the water in Lake Huron, Canada at our cottage. this will be light duty for this H I'm sure!

Thank you for the reply on speed, Rocky. I have driven other H's in 5th but this one clearly doesn't feel like it has the power to get to max speed. I'm not looking for speed either, but it will affect anything I try and do with it if underpowered. Seems something fuel related? My father in law says hay have to check the compression?

I will let others do the diagnosis if needed as I am new to the H tractors myself. I recently bought one and I find that in 5th gear it is scarry fast at partial throttle. I really don't want to open the throttle fully to find out just how fast or how much power it has. Maybe I am gettng old or just not in as much of a hurry any more but I think that 5th is more for speed and not power, level ground only sort of thing.

With a load of hay etc a super C will out pull an H in high gear, but the H is faster. High gear doesn't have much power. ( on the H )
