we are in the process of restoring paps 1950 super a. the touch control unit had been seriously leaking for a couple years, so we took it to the ih dealer to rebuild while we were doing the engine. after installing the unit, i was bleeding according to thier instuction(which was the same as the book) and after about one minute, the oil turned to foam and started coming out of the filler plug. this stuff looked like shaving cream! i drained and refilled with ih hy-tran and it done the same thing. as soon as it starts, the lift works fine, but soon gets sluggish. when the lift strokes out, a wad of foam shoots out the filler plug. do i need to bleed more? (ive done the whole thing 4 times.)is the pump bad, which caused the touch control to leak to start with? has the dealer done something wrong(this guy has been ih mechanic for 30 yrs. and is normally very reliable)or some thing else? sorry for a long post, im just trying to explain everything. p.s., if the pump is bad, id like to buy a used one. thanks.

It could be leaking air into the suction side of the system. It could have been incorrectly assembled by "others". It could be mis adjusted so it keeps trying to go beyond the stops, heating the oil to a froth. If it gets the pump hot, I would suspect the limit adjustment on the rock shafts. JimN
