I have my 1948 Cub split in two and I installed a new clutch disk and throw-out bearing. I took out the long shaft that releases the clutch and cleaned it and the housing and lubed the pedal shafts as the clutch sticking and not releasing properly. I put it all back together according to the manual but after putting it back together the clutch pedal goes way down near the bottom of its travel and does not release the clutch. What can I have done wrong. Any help on this will be really appreciated..... Gale Roberts

Fingers will need to be adjusted no matter where you buy the replacement. They do not come preset.

If you bought a clutch kit new from a reputible dealer, you shouldn't have to adjust the fingers on the pressure plate.Pull the cover off the bottom, have someone push the clutch down while you look up inside to see whats happening.See where all your travel is going. You may have to take some of the travel up in your linkage.

New clutch and PP in my Cub came from Case/IH/Whatever dealer, fingers had to be adjusted. ANYTIME I buy a new pressure plate, I at the very least check them for porper clearance, and have yet to find one that was right on.

A new disk and plate will change the adjustment from the position of a worn out clutch (which has been adjusted many times) to that of a new clutch. All those prior adjustments must be undone. It could have issues, but adjust to 1" of free play at the pedal first. The pedal should move easily by hand one inch, then feel like it is starting to push the fingers. The linkage is adjustable. Did you adjust the clutch fingers? They should be adjusted to 1 1/8 - 1 1/4 inches from the face of the flywheel to the surface of the fingers that the throwout bearing rides on.
