I have an industrial tractor with snowplow and cab(w/ heat) 20" front rubber, 4-way plow. Has NYC-4 and IBKN 22640 stamped on block. I'm about 100 miles from NYC and know they used tractors like this for snow removal. What can you tell me about tractor? Thanks Steve

I believe you have the same kind of tractor my FIL has, He bought his MANY years back from a guy that had gotten them all from the city of NY.

IT is yellow with huge wheels in the front and I forget what size in the rear but they arent a standard size. Looks almost like a M? but YELLOW!
has the cab and all on it. with a door in the back. He only runs hos a few days a year.

He's told me a story of how he got it from LOng island to upstate Ny, about a 250 mile trip. This was before cammeras[ haha- well at least digital], DOT all over the place, and sue happy people I guess,,I actually cringe when I hear him tell the story] He had a older International flatbed probably 1 1/2 ton,,well he lifted the plow, got it on the rear of teh flat bed . chained her down by the blade and away he went!!

Never get away with that today, I dont know if I would try.. But I guess that was in the times of neccasity and get it done with what you had.. not everyone had a gooseneck and truck and trailer like today,, can you imagine trying that today?? he knows he never would get off his road..

He also brought a pony from his house on LI to upstate NY in the back of a VW bus,, oh well I love hearing him tell of what could be done, sometimes I shake my head,, as does he now haha.

1947 International I-6, or at least the engine is, and with the NYC-4, I would assume two things, it was built for New York City by IH, and since the block is stamped NYC-4, that that is the origianl engine. Would make for a great conversation piece.

Well keep an eye on the photo ads and you will see for sale soon, I need to get rid of some to make room for more. Would like to see someone get it to restore then have it go for scrap.
