Thanks for all the suggestions ! I got the bearing off by beating it on an anvil . It took a few more than ten licks to get it off along with both gears and no damage to anything . Then it didn't take any time at all to knock the pilot race out with a punch . I picked up the new pilot bearing today from CIH and it didn't come with a snap ring but I have a used shaft I can take one off of . The inner race WILL have to be driven on . I didn't check the fit of the outer race but it should be OK since the old race was in there pretty tight . I had to use a 20 oz hammer on the punch since the 10 oz ball peen barely moved it . So everything is in good shape and ready to get cleaned and put back together as soon as the bearings get here next week . Thanks to all !! ...Randy

Good, if you don't mind how much was pilot bearing from your dealer and which number did you end up with? You ask where I live in another post, West Virginia. What part of IA are you from? Its been a few years but I bought 4 rear ends and 2 complete tractors with 9 speeds that I can remember around your state and used to know were more were. Think with fuel costs my days of scronging for parts is about over.

Hi D , I'm living in NE Iowa near Clarksville which is a small town due south of Charles City and a little NW of Waterloo/Cedar Falls . The last time I was in West Virginia was about 30 years ago .

I don't mind at all but with all the confusion about part #'s at the dealer all I have is the new # and a guess as to which one it was in the parts book . The number it ultimately sub'd to is 43357DA and it cost $38.32 - inner and outer races without the snap ring . The 69215DA part# ( still a good part # ) which is the one in the book I was going to get cost $87.96 . The bearing I got is a Bower bearing - made here in the US . It looks like a good enough bearing . I don't have the number off the bearing itself but I can get it when I go over to work on it tomorrow . The other 5 transmission bearings I'm replacing total just over $300 . ...Randy
