power steering oil seals

my 340 utility power steering unit leaks from oil seals on both sides of power steering unit(where steering shaft comes out of powersteering unit) i cant find information on replacing the 2 oil seals, and im not sure how to go about this repair, was wondering if anyone has done this kind of repair , thanks Jim

Sure. Pull the old seals out of the housing using self tapping/drilling/or pointed self starting screws, and a slide hammer. Look at the shaft to see if there is a seal groove that needs to be fixed (speedy sleeve) Clean things and put in new seals (from CaseIH, or Motion Industries or the like) set the new seals so they do not run in the old groove is also easy to do. Lube the new seal with a thin swipe of chassis grease to keep it from wear at startup, unless there is lube everywhere anyway. JimN

thanks, i will try that. ill let you know how i do. just one thing, i dont have to split the power steering unit, take old seals out as are. If this sounds right let me know.... thank you
