I am converting my M to a 12 volt system. How do I hook up the coil to the distributor. Does it hook to the positive or negative side of the coil to the distributor. Our battery is negative ground with an alternator.

As posted, simply match the coil to whichever ground you have i.e. if at Neg ground the coils -wires to distributor and its + receives Ignition Switch voltage. It can still produce a spark if wired wrong but its more efficient if wired correctly..... .

Connect the + terminal to the positive side of the battery and the - terminal to the negative side of the battery.

In a negative ground system the - terminal goes to the points. If you have a positive grounded system the + terminal goes to the points.

Also, be SURE it's a "true" 12-volt coil, or if it's NOT, be SURE you are using the correct ballast resistor with it.
