I just bought what I believe is a 60-L trailer plow.

From looking at the operator's manual, it's different from either the "two-three" bottom version and the "three-four" bottom version of the 60.

Why did IH produce three different versions of the 60 plow?

What is the signifigance of the 60-L version? The frame design is somewhat different from either of the other versions.

Thanks Chuck. I've got both a 60 and a 70 manual. Read the 60 manual cover to cover, and only see mention of "60-L" in three places:

1. "This manual covers..."

2. Random picture of a three-two bottom #60 plow, with three bottoms, mislabeled as "60-L"

3. Top view of a 60-L plow.

Careful comparison between the four-three bottom #60 and the three bottom 60-L led me to the same conclusion: The 60-L is a three bottom plow using the four-three bottom frame design. Cool.

Mkirsch, I have done a lot of work with both 60 and 70 plows but have no idea what the L is. Can you describe it? Chuck

Mkirsch, After making my first post I dug out a manual for a model 70, low and behold I found it. The three furrow plow can be reduced to a two and the four furrow can be reduced to a three. If they have been reduced so all frame members come all the way to the front of the plow then they have the L designation. I guess if all else fails read the instructions. Good luck, Chuck
