Have a 450 Farmall that has I believe a SwartZ wide front with 6 bolt wheels and 750-16 tires. I want to take this off as I want either a trike or I.H. wide front and cast wheels that are original for the 450. Are there name plates on these and where would they be. I'm thinking with the 6 bolt steel wheel this must be for a later series tractor. Migraine

All of the Schwartz wide fronts I have seen in my neck of the woods, So MN, look just like the one MN Scott posted. On both the Farmalls and John Deeres, they all extend out in front of the tractor frame.

Allen where did you find that heavy duty wide front? I have a 560 and would like to someday put a wide front on it, now it is a tricycle or narrow front.

Talk to Rusty Farmall.

New front was at my door in less than 30 hours and it came clear across two states.

Heavy duty version comes fully assembled with all mounting hardware and bolts to complete the conversion plus it comes with the 6-bolt hubs.

Only things that weren't included were the wheels, tires and lug bolts.

Hi Feller,

The 6-bolt hubs are on the heavy duty Schwartz.

Thanks Allan did the wheels seem to protrude out farther to the front than the I.H.one? This almost resembles the old H wide front.. Just doesn't like quite right on the old 450 with the steel wheels. I am trying to find a dual wheel trike for it but no luck so far. Should be a gazillion of those things around but not here I guess!! Later

Is the triangluar nose piece made out of cast iron? If so, it might be a factory front, which came out in '54. Rarer than rare anymore.

The aftermarkets will all be made from angle iron/steel runners and bolster mounts.

If it has those 2' long runners/open at the front, that makes it a Norden.

The light duty Schwartz "looks" just like this one except they use the original tractor's wheels, hubs and bearings.

The top picture is my 1954 Super H with the new style factory wide front. The second one is my 1953 Super H with a regular duty swartz.

You real sure on the aftermarket?

This is a regular-service Schwartz.

Now it is sitting there patiently waiting for me to get out there and finish the job of getting some fat tires on the front. :>(

Yup its a Swartz. Has Swartz cast in the steering arms and the tag on it states Swartz. My dad and uncle bought it 'the front end' maybe in the 60's to swath grain with so its an old one. I've never had it off and there is a whole line of holes drilled in the mounting frame so maybe its mounted to far ahead. I'd like a narrow front to move machinery in and out of the sheds so I'am thinking af putting the narrow front back on. If I do I'll have to see if there are extra holes to move it back some on the tractor.

Yes Scott that is a Schwartz, but it is mounted to far forward.

Look how the tie rods are running forward instead of straight out.

I bet moving it back will let it turn shorter with those tie rods straight out.

This one is built different than Allan's. It has angle irons for a frame and the rear wishbone pivot mounts are incorporated in that frame and there are no holes drilled in the tractor frame rails. If I remember there are holes drilled at different centers as if it will fit other tractor models to. I know they bought it so they could swath oats with the Deere no. 5 mower for their first pull type combine a IHC 82. They would put it on at swathing time and it would stay on to cultivating time next spring. It does crank the arms all the way to the stops so turning is not affected. I know it turns sharper and with less effort than the factory 54 does.
