Yep got it to run this after noon. Governor doesn't seem to work as it should but that might just be an adjustment if I'm lucky, but I also know how my luck goes. It does run pretty good since I rebuilt the carb. I still need to fix both front tires but thats a small problem, then wire up the alternator. One question though. How is the kill switch for the mag suppose to be hooked up. It has one of the mags that has a slide sort of thing that shuts it down and theres no linkage etc. there to even have an idea of how it should be hooked up. It has a piece of baling wire hook to it and then back by the steering wheel which I know isn't right

Glad to hear it is running! It is nice that people are saving these old tractors, so many of them have been parted out lately. Glad to hear you saved another one!!!

Andy.

Glad it is going!!
There is a choke cable affair that runs to the mechanism you discussed. The choke cable operates the mag ground. If it is not a show queen to be, go with a replacement choke cable, and make up the clips needed to keep it as straight as possible, and tidy. Original cables might be hard to find, but I have not looked. Another way to do it is to use a wire from the terminal and a grounding switch at the operator's platform area to shut it off. JimN

Thanks I wondered if I could just hook up a kill switch to is instead of the cable. I did notice on the one end that there was 2 nuts and figured it might work that way also but figured I'd ask first

Just did one the other day and grounding the two nuts didn't do anything. In the end fabricated a bracket to mount to the steering shaft and used a choke cable. Not perfect but it works pretty well. tractorsam

Ya I figure I'll give it a jumper wire test first then go from there. I prefer the kill switch because it can be hid and not look as ugly as a choke cable set up
