I went through the Case-IH parts catalogs on their website and found that early power beyond covers for the 584 (part no. 123082C1) had a supply port, and you plumbed the return to the large plug under the right rear axle. Later versions of the cover (part no. 123082C2, which replaced the C1) had a supply and return port in the cover. On the 584, is the return port in the later cover usable, or must you still plumb back to below the rear axle?

Thanks,

Jason M

Jason, the method I described still allows the rear remotes to function. If you go to CIH parts web site and look up 2250 loader on page 2-40 it shows the 3 different hydraulic connection methods and the two different power beyond manifolds.

Jason, are you planning to put a loader on your 584? Most Dealers don't use the power beyond cover, they remove the return pipe that goes from the output of the remote valve(s) to the depth control at the rear of the seat. The output of the remote valve(s) now becomes the input to the loader control valves and the outlet of the loader control valves can go to the return fitting on the depth control. Sometimes the Dealer caps off the return for the depth control and puts the loader return below the rear axle. My brother has a 3230(new version of 584) and it has a capped off return port on the side of the transmission case just by the 3pt hydraulic controls.

Jim,

I'm not able to look at my tractor right now, but does this make the rear remotes unusable?

Is it still feasible to use the power beyond cover, and, if so, can I plumb supply and return to the cover if it's the later one with both connections?

Thanks,

Jason M.
