Very new to this tractor. Until last night it would start and run fine but I occasionally would see gas dripping out of the carb where the rubber line connects it to the air intake. Last night it started, but I was having to feather the choke to keep it going and it quit running after about 10 -15 seconds and wouldn't start again. I thought it might have flooded, so I let it sit a while, pulled the rubber air intake line to air it out. No start. Not even a hit. I pulled all the plugs and they weren't wet, but I cleaned them up and cranked her over. Had good spark on all the plugs. Started thinking no fuel delivery. Gave it a light shot of starting fluid and it popped off and then quit. Pulled the fuel line off the sediment bowl and had fuel. Pulled the fuel line off at the carb and had fuel. So no fuel must be the problem?? Is it possible that the float will stick closed so the fuel is not getting into the carb? Any other ideas? Thanks, Barry

I have a farmall that I seldom use and it started the same thing, it is the needle sticking, and old farmer told me to put about a 1/4 pint of GM transmission fluid in a full tank of gas and see if it helps, I did and it seems to help up to this time , good luck

Just had the same problem with my Ford. It turned out to be the needle valve sticking and not letting any gas into the carb. It would start and run great for two minutes then die and would not restart. See if the needle valve doesn't solve your problem.

Barry,

That's what they do when they are cold. Choke it full, then be prepared to feather.

The colder it is, the more choke it takes. But, they warm quickly and will need the choke released relatively soon.

None of mine do. By the time the choke is pushed in after they fire up, its good to go. Of course I dont see the cold you do, but it started just fine the other day when it was 19.

Well I see a fair amount of cold and neither of the Farmalls take much choke. MTA takes none and the B wants it gone as soon as it starts.

There is an inlet screen in the carburetor. Remove the 1/8 inch pipe plug in the bottom of the carburetor and see if you have a good stream of gas flowing out of the fuel bowl. Chuck

Check the screen behind the fitting where your gas line is hooked at the carburetor. Hal

There is a drain plug in the bottom of the carb fuel bowl. If fuel comes out that then the problem is further downstream. But yeah, it it will pop and sputter on ether it is defiantly a fuel starve problem.
