The 38 I bought for $300 and am restoring has brake levers on the left and right sides. The one on the right has a handle that's a bit longer than the left but the locking mechan ism and arms, spring etc. is the same.
Did the F-20's normally have 2 brake levers? I have heard they didn't and that it was a very rare option.

If your lever on the right side is shorter, but looks factory, it is a rare right brake lever option. IH made the tractors with only a left lever, but the right lever was a option. They are very rare and are worth a lot of money. My Dad sold two on eBay before, the first one sold for $145.10 and the other one went for $100.00.

No wonder the brake lever was shorter. It was broke off, had a piece of 1" pipe around it and the handle off something else attached to it. The picture shows it without the piece of pipe. Looks like it was factory at one time???

True factory right-hand levers are rare. But farmer add-ons are very common.

Any idea if the factory right option looks exactly like the left, length etc.

My 1937 F20 has two brake levers and the left side is longer than the right side.

My son has a 37 that Grandp[a bought new, and it has two levers. I too have been told it was an option or an add-on and they came standard with just one.

Mine has left lever only. Parts/operators manuals from Rice Equipment seem to indicate option, don't know how rare. RN
