Looking At The IH 1086 Model Tractors For Horse Power 120-130.
But Prices Are Pretty Close Between Models 1086, 1486, 1586; Can Anyone Tell Me The Difference In The Tractors? I Understand They Have Different Size Engine And Horse Power Goes Up With Each Model. But Are The Basically The Same Size, Length-Width-Height and Weight?
Thank you, Dennis

The 1086 is the best in my opinion - it has good power for the size and is fuel efficient, and also has the right speeds for many jobs. Ours has around 9000 hours on it without any more trouble than a person would expect in almost 30 years.

I've heard of trouble with the 1486 rearend and transmission (basically more HP, same rear end as 1086)... but some people have had great luck with them as well.

The 1586 is near useless in my opinion due to the poorly spaced gears and it seems like every speed is either too fast or too slow. I've only run one of them and didn't like the transmission at all.

I agree with ejr-IA unless you need the extreme hp the 10 and 14 is a better bet because the 15's had some issues with brakes shaving into the rearend causing some gear and bearing damage costing major$$$$ otherwise a very nice and nimble powerhouse.

Physicaly their the same size.10 has a 414cid 130HP,14 has 436cid 145hp,15 has 436 160hp.Brakes and axle size are the main difference as you move up in HP.The 15 has planetary drive and a 3 speed instead of 4 speeds in the 10and14.I would stick with the 10 or 14 in my estamation.
