My stage II Super H is leaking trans. oil out the front. Is it difficult to change the shaft seals;are they accessible through the bottom cover or do I have to split the tractor?

If your SH is a stage 2 it will have only a single seal at the front of the transmission (the input shaft seal). Replacement is relatively straightforward and can be accomplished without splitting the tractor.

Generally the hardest part is getting the input shaft coupling apart...

Incidentally I've had good luck getting replacment seals from my local bearing supplier. Their price is considerably less than at the CIH dealer. Just give them the IHC part number and they can cross to National Seal, etc equivalents.
