Is there anything special about installing a GM 10SI on a Super C? I put one on my M and had a little fun with the brackets. I am hoping that it will fit on the original mounting bracket and adjust with the original belt.

Hitachi might fit the mount, BUT how you going to get the pulley to line up with fan pulley, has the SC generator has a pulley that extents out from the front of generator 2 1/4 inches to center of pulley.

There is a couple of ways to mount GM 10si on SC.

1. drill and tap armature to allow installation of the SC gen. pulley

2. Make another mount so that you can move the alternater forward as to line up pulleys.

I will see if I can get some pictures of several ways that I have to mount alternator on a SC

I can't believe as patriotic a folks as Americans are that you'd put a Japanese alternator on an American tractor.Use an alt off an S-10 or a cavalier, easy to mount, puts out more amperage, and is readily available.

It too may be made in Japan, but I should think Delco-Remy is easier to swallow than Hitachi.

OK, now I am thinking about the Hitachi alternator. It looks like it will fit on the original mount with a 3/8" bolt.

Go with the Hitachi, The size difference, and tidy install make the difference for me, and the country of origin for good technology is irrelevant. Wiring setup will be in the archives. JimN
