Does anyone here have a buzz saw on a F20? I want to try to build one but would like some ideas on geting the crank out where I can start the tractor. Could I use existing cultivator mounting bracets to mount too ? This is just to satisfy an itch not for serious wood cutting. I hope someone can help,thanks.jeff.

I've got an F-20 with the original buzz saw that goes with it. The saw either came with or was purchased for this F-20 and has been owned by the same person ever since. I rescued the saw from behind his shed and only had to replace the (original) boards. The frame is the same width as the tractor frame and is hinged with eye bolts on each side to adjust the tension. The tractor side of the hinge is "T" shaped and bolts to the upper and lower slots on both sides of the cultivator mount. When straight up in the transport position a chain with a ring slips over the point on top of the steering box. Whether up or down, I can still get to the crank okay to start it without any modifications to the crank. It works great, fun to use to cut up all the small stuff when doing firewood.

Back in buzz saw days a couple neighbors mounted them on the rear and ran the belt under the rear axle.

A crank extension is probably the easiest, braze a loop (an old outer race from a bearing works well) to the saw to help control the crank turn point. JimN

My dad made a buzz saw for his F20 about 45 years ago. Its still around the machine shed. He mounted it to the cultivator brackets. Had a belt made to length. For crank starting he made an extention for the crank shaft that was hoky but it worked. We sawed many a cord of wood with it.

My father did this for my grandfather years ago. He mounted the saw to the cultivator brackets with a hinge arrangement so you could tip the cultivator up when it was not in use, and then when you let it down, it also tightened the belt on the belt pulley. It was really smart, but it"s been so many years since I"ve seen it (40) I don"t remember too much about it.
