I have a 885 Case IH. The tractor hasn't been used much at all. It only has 500 hrs on it. The problem is that the differential lock pedal on the floor is stuck and it wont push down. It is in the regular position, but it wont engage. The pedal wont move at all. What should i look at?

I have an 885 that has the same problem. The pedal is rusted tight. I don't ever use it but it probablly needs a good limbering up. I'd rather have it stuck that way as opposed to down. that would make for a hard steering tractor. Good luck.

The same thing happened to our 2500A when we bought it, except I was stupid enough to push it down, and it wouldn't come up. I went underneath the tractor and traced the linkage. On ours, it was connected to a large spring, then to a rod which connected to a lever entering the differential housing. I sprayed PB blaster on every moving part and then let it soak. I then used a bar and managed to pull the pedal back up, and continued to work it until it freed up. It is also possible that something failed inside of the rear end housing as well (although unlikely, as there aren't many parts to the design). If that is the case, fixing it will require removing the differential cover and seeing what is happening. Good luck.
