could someone tell what the differences are between these two engines, I recently ordered an oil pump for my bd144 engine(B250),but unfortunately it is too long ,the sump would not fit by about an inch.Does the bd154 engine then have a higher sump, because otherwise it fits perfectly.Any help will be appreciated, cause i"m struggling to get the right one for my engine.(i"m from South Africa)

Hi Eddie, from the CNH parts web site:
Link

Unfortunately B250 is not listed but B275, BD144 and B414 are, so see below for part numbers and serial number ranges.

Is it possible that the shaft is shorter on B250 because it did not have an hour/tachometer on the dash? Hour meter was by injection pump. I know on B275 & B414 Diesels the hour/tachometer ran from an assembly that attached to the top of the oil pump drive shaft.

BD144 Engine:
3043131R93 PUMP PUMP ASSY., oil, Engine serial no. 17289 and above.

B275D-BD144:
3043131R91 PUMP, ENGINE OIL PUMP, oil assy., BD-144/17289A up.

B414D-BD154:
Before serial 30944:
3043131R93 Pump Pump Assy, Oil, Bsn BD-154/30944 After serial 30945: 3064060R91 Pump Pump Assy, Oil, Asn BD-154/30945
