Engine turns over 90 miles an hr, but wont pick up and start. Put in around 2 teaspoons of auto trans fluid in each piston to seat up the rings, It started running down through the carb. Flooded new plugs, and will get some more. Let it set for 2 days for the oil to seat up. With new rod caps the piston rises up enough to press in the point on the plugs. Is that right?? Ive heard of having to use 2 rings in the plugs to beat that problem. Engine worked before overhaul, just lost power/

Did you remove any of these gears during the engine rebuild? Hal

Did you measure the ring gap on the new rings before installing them on the pistons? I would bring No1 piston to TDC on the compression stroke
and then look at the valves on No1 cylinder to see if both are closed. This will determine if the valve timing is off. Hal

Do a compression check, I think (with oil getting back down to the intake, that there may be valve adjustment, or timing issues. JimN

If you are getting fire and you have it timed correctly (or pretty close) then it should fire or at least sputter.

If you are not getting any sputtering at least then for sure you have a valve issue and your not getting any compression.

Do a compression and leakdown test. If you are getting no compression then loosen your valvetrain. No or weak compresion equals no combustion..... no start.

Oh yeah forgot to say, the pistons shouldn't ever touch the plugs. Be sure you have the right size plugs. If you do then add a ring.
