Farmall rear lights?

My C and Super C have the rear lights that have a switch that acts as a selector to turn on the little red light or the white light. On my old H that I have been working on the lights and charging system, the rear light is crushed but it is just your standard tear drop light like the head lights. My sons B also is like that. Was the light with the red lens an option or was it standard on all the Farmalls? Would like to be correct but have noticed the combo lights are way expensive.

On the letter series tractors, the combination rear light with the bullet red light on top became an accessory available through the parts department in the late 40's, probably 47 or 48. I don't believe it was a factory option but I may be mistaken. Starting about 52, the combination light with the red inside became available as a factory option or as a parts department accessory. A combination rear light with the red inside became standard with the introduction of the hundred series.

Paul - The Super H parts book shows the combo rear light(white and red) as an "attachment". I presume then this was an extra cost option. The parts book does NOT however show a plain white rear light.

A buddy of mine has a '51 H with a teardrop rear white rear light with separate red "bullet" light mounted on top. Far as we can determine it is original.

My 1951 Farmall H has the red bullet light on top of the white tear drop light also, this tractor was purchased new by my father, and came that way from the factory.

We had a 48 M with the combo light and a 50 M without. Both came that way new.

The red lamp did not come on the Farmalls until after 1946. then it was an option to have a road light or just a work light.

First tractor we had with the red light in the rear unit was a 300. My 43 H, 49 M, and '52 Sm came with only the white light in the rear. Dad replaced the rear light on the H in about 1960, and the replacement had the switch and red light.

I think the combo lights were expensive back then too! I think the people like me just ran a headlight out back to cut cost. I am sure George in KY could provide more detail.
BTW - If you think the light is expensive, I have a combo light that all it needs is the switch. Go price that! Just under $30!!!
