The IH 400/450LP head number is 364586 R1.The IH parts book lists this number for the 264 and the 281 engine.

An LP head is a very speciic head. IH didn't start using the new head until about half way thru the production on the 400 LP tractors. I learned that the hard way when I sold a factory LP 400 to a guy who was after the head only. I lost money on the deal making it right with him. I don't have the id number, but I can tell you that it is different in shape than a gasoline head. $1500 for a good LP head is about the going rate.

If I am not mistaken, you have it backwards. The 450 LP head is the one to get for performance. I believe the 400 LP head is similar to a gasoline head.

I seen one in the classifieds the other day asking 1800 for it. I sold a good 400/450 head while back for 500. Don't know if that was to cheap or to high. As good as it was I would think it was worth the money.
