I have acquired a Farmall Regular. Which Number is Serial Number? By gearshift 500D8.
Back of clutch housing 1400DA.
Other numbers--4565DA--1523DB.
Looks like cutoff rims and 36in. tires if I measured right. Thanks for the help.

Those are part numbers, not serial numbers. The serial number should be stamped on a tag on the tool box under the fuel tank, or on the carburetor side of the engine block. I think the serial number usually starts with FS.

The numbers with the "D"s in them are likely part numbers, as one of the early parts numbering systems was built around the letter D. The numbers you gave aren't formatted correctly to be "casting codes" as those were used to show the date the piece was cast. D was used in the casting codes to indicate 1934 and the Regular was out of production by then.

Guy Fay's Data Book says the chassis serial numbers for the Regulars were located on the nameplate on the tool box situated under the fuel tank. As for the engine serial number, he shows "na." Not sure if that means "not applicable" as in there was no engine serial number, or "not available" as in he couldn't locate enough information to say reliably where the engine ser. no., if any, was located.

The only Regular I ever worked on had the serial number stamped on the top of the left-hand side frame rail, alongside the engine. It could easily be obscured by dirt, rust or paint, so look closely. It was hand stamped and hard to make out.

Yes, Lefthand side, ahead of the radiator. F20s are stamped further back, by the clutch housing.

I don't think any of those numbers are the serial number. Those are casting numbers of the components. Look under the number one spark plug, on a flat spot of the engine block. it may be there. Not real sure about the Regular, but lots of Farmall serial numbers are there. It should also be on a tag. Probably on one side or the other of the transmission or bell housing. Someone else may know more about the Regular.
