Trouble - Wide Front End

A while back I purchased a wide fron end from a guy not too far from where I live. I am restoring a Farmall 300 and he told me tha it would fit. Two days ago, when I was trying to put it on, I found that he was either mistaken, or lied to me. The back support bracket is 2" wider than the frame of my 300. Would this be the bracket for a 400 or something? Would it be easy to find and change or to the correct bracket or should I cut this one off and refab it to work? Also, I could not get the steering plate to bolt up to the shaft on the tractor. The holes do not line up but I though they were the same size on all those sizes of tractors. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

The only parts you need are the rear brace and the steering arm... probably not too expensive.

YEs,

The bigger tractors of that era were exactly 2" wider than the little guys. Also, the steering boss is not "exactly alike" either.

He either lied to ya or didn't know the difference himself.

The narrow front pedastal for a Farmall H through 460 does have a smaller bolt pattern than on the M through 560. That is probably why the steering plate won"t bolt up.
