How many of you guys have these little gems? I was surprised at all the replies to the thread linked below, from other 424 owners.

Third Party Image

Mine is on the "to do list" for a paint job, but before I paint it, I'd like to swap the "aftermarket" power steering for a factory setup. I've called a lot of boneyards, all the way from here, in ND, to the South, without much success. I'm always told they are not a common tractor.

So, how about a "show of hands" from 424 owners?

My grandfather passed away and left one to me. It also has a Woods RM306 finish mower on it. Does anyone have any idea what it would be worth? It has to be pulled to be started and it has a flat on the big tire.
I would appreciate a response.

I've got a 424 diesel, power steering, runs and works perfect. Needs paint, but I have had no luck finding a grill for it. Anyone know where I can find one ?

If you ever locate a source, Let me know, Mine never had one either. I bought a 4x8 sheet of expanded metal and If I don't find one, I will bend one up from that. Not stock but will do the job. Gary

I owned one for several years. The 424 is a great tractor. I got rid of mine mainly because it did not have power steering. Also is was a gas.

I have a diesel 424. Love it. Twice the tractor that the 8N was it replaced. I bought two junkers out of florida. One with a spun crank and one that had a bad injector precombustion chamber. I used the head off the spun crank engine on the other block and added new bearings etc. Still working good but no grill etc. I made a nose by narrowing a 460 piece and mounting aftermarket headlights. I have to figure out how to post a picture onto the forum before I can post a picture. It looks like you can't send a pic from your computer files without posting to a website first? I wonder why, as you can post computer files to a photo ad directly from your computer Gary

I have a 424 deisel. Just overhauled it. Tractor is in very good condition, but..... ...I need the side panels to restore it to perfection. I have mowed with it for three years. 7 foot King Kutter. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi Guys,
My grandfather had a 424 gas, which was left to me last year. I always enjoyed my time spent using his tractor and riding on it with him. It runs great, and one day I would like to go through it and repaint it.

There great little tractors. Mines a 1965 according to serial #'s.

Well I'm not exactly an owner, but i did operste one for about six months when i worked for the county fairgrounds. It was my favorite tractor out of the three they had. There was the 424, 484, and the CaseIH industrial version of the 484. It is a great tractor for its size. I always used it to pull the finishing moowers across the parking lots and the manure spreaders. I liked the 424, because it always started better than the others and ran perfect. It is a great tractor for its size if you ask me.
