Hmm, wonder where the 570lbs comes from... The only mechanical difference between a 1066 and 1466 is the stroke of the engine, isn't it?

Where'd they sneak in 570lbs of ballast, or did they just list the weights as different so farmers would think they were getting more tractor for their money?

the final drives are wider and the axles are heavier on a 14. i have owned my 14 since it was almost new.

Heavier rear end in a 1466.

The 966 and the 1066 had the same rear end.

The 1086 went to the heavier rear end the same as a 1486.

The shipping weight with a cab, by the book I have says:

1066 = 11860

1466 = 12430

So a differance of about 570 lbs.

According to the 1973 Nebraska tests, the 1066 weighed in at 13,345. However, I think the tractor had dual wheels and a cab. The 1466 weighed 13,670 with duals and a cab. These weights were before any additional ballast was added.

Oh heck yeah,

Fueled up and ready to go to the field, they'll crowd 15K awfully darned hard.
