Hello,

First off... I hope you all had a great Christmas & New Year Holiday! My question to the panel is this: I recently became an owner of a Super M that belonged to my Father-in-Law. He is in the mid to late stages of Alzheimers and cannot help me in identifying my tractor, although he is aware I have it and LIGHTS UP whenever I bring up the subject. As a testimony to the power of a Farmall, he has some children (12) which he sometimes doesn't recognize but HE ALWAYS recognizes me and calls me "that tractor guy".
Cool huh? Anyway, I was wondering if you all could help me better identify when and where my tractor was made. Here's some info... Serial # tag is gone, tractor was bought in Minnesota, it has live power, battery is under gas tank, hydraulic pump is in belly pan, three bolt starter mount, has wide front end (not sure how to tell if it's factory WFE). Im not sure where any other parts identification number locations are. It has an electric engine heater (option or add on???). I know this isn't much info, so please let me know of any other identification numbers or features and I'll collect the info and re-post. Thanks in advance for your help!

Unless tractor is a diesel the 3 bolt starter housing and battery under gas tank don't go togeather. Something has ben changed maybe the clutch housing and thats reason serial plate is missing.Could be something else though,is the on off switch in amp gauge box or in support for hydraulic operating rod? Is voltage regulator mounted to steering post or rear gas tank support?

It was built either at Rock Island, IL or Louisville KY. Without the serial tag it is impossible to tell, because the L prefix that designates Louisville on the tag, followed by a 6 digit serial number, is the only way to tell where it was built. Where it was sold will be difficult, if not impossible to determine, particularly with no serial tag. If it has live hydraulics from the factory it does not have a belly pump. If it has a live pump in front of the distributer, and the battery under the gas tank, the pump is aftermarket, and the belly pump is usually used only as a reservoir. The belly pump is not live.

Go out and look, and get us some casting dates off major components, like the one shown: 4-6-U. Then we can tell you something... mike

Unless the engine has been changed sometime in the past, the engine serial # should be close to the tractor serial #. You can also check the casting codes on the major castings.
