my ol' 460 finally started showing its age this summer so i decided time for a top end.once inside low and behold this engine is not sleeved.manual calls for sleeves,no over size pistons.all kits have sleeves included.bore is stock 3 9/16.did farmall make some sleeveless motors.local I/H dealer says no sleeves and over size pistons available.is this right?Help!year is a 1958 or59.

I don't know the serial break but the C221 and C263 were sleeved early and sleeveless late, same bore and stroke in both, C301 was sleeveless the whole time. This is straight out of the engine service manual.

They don't match -- go to www.caseih.com, look for 460, and look at the engine parts.

Does it have the 221 motor or did some one put a sleeveless 301 in the tractor?Theirs over bore pistons for the 301 and repair sleeves from clevite for the 221 for 39/16 bore,no. 226-8058.

the engine is stamped c221 with serial#042915.the tractor itself is for sure a 1959.do you know if the c221 combine engines were sleevless.i here maybe they were.

Your local auto machine shop may be able to bore the block to accept sleeves. They probably have a source for sleeve and piston kits. There's probably an overbore kit available with thinner sleeves too. Hal

Yeah,

I ended up with one of those "doctored" tractors too. :>(

I imagine someone dropped in a combine motor somewhere along the way.
