Replaced the steering wheel on my W560 today- it had some old car steering wheel on it. I used a puller, and had to beat the hub some, but it came off. The splines were not the best, so I had to tap (ok- pound) the new one on far enough to get the nut started. Worked out fine, was all happy, then saw a puddle of heavy oil under the tractor. It was running out the bottom of the steering box. I cleaned it off and found what looked like a 2" freeze plug pushed out a little. I tapped it back in, and the leak stopped. Question is- did I break something inside the box to cause the plug to move? Does the freeze plug support the bottom of the steering shaft? Any help would be appreciated.

Clark- Good luck finding those rims. I looked everywhere. I finally fixed the one bad one that I had- came out real good. The wheel centers will accept a beveled rim- you can get some 30" blanks and use clamps like a 400 (or others) to mount them. Won"t be original, but it will work. The other choice is to rivit your lugs on the new blanks, but if you break one, you"re screwed. I"ve sure had fun with my wheatland so far- good luck with yours.
