ok, im trying to find out if the potmetal cover where the pickup float goes is the same on a farmall super A and a H. i know the complete pump is different where it bolts to the block, but my cover plate is broken and costs over 116 new from IH. so i can get an H pump off of ebay realy cheap, but question the cover plate compatibility. the part number for the super a plate is 6098D A, does anyone know what it is on the H? Thanks in advance

Last one i got was 60 check from another dealer. The oil pump is pretty important it is not the place to save money. Mite want to replace the guage with one that reads lbs also. I just bought a tractor that didnt show any pressure and shut it off quick then replaced with new guage and had 40 lbs with the new one.

Ok I pulled the plate off. The wear/grove is about as deep as a piece of paper. I think a half hour and some sand paper you will be good to go. I check the numbers they match.6098-D Bill

I think I replyed to this the other day.
Anyway I have a 113 pump. For $20.00& shipping I will put the bottom plate in the mail. It is used you will have to take it to a shop and have it milled flat on the pump side.Or do as some guys do me included and put some sand paper on a piece of flat glass.and rub it in a circle till it is flat.make the last pass with a fine grit. If you would the plate send me a mailing address Bill

Thanks for the reply, for some reason my post the other day disapeered. but why would i need to mill the plate back down flat? shouldnt it already be flat? mine is, but is broke, also still wondering about the H oil pump compatibility for that plate?

I don't know about the H pump. Most any used pump plate will have wear/grove from the gears. The plate needs to be flat for the best oil presure. Bill

They are different and do not interchange. The wear in the plate will cause some loss of oil pressure. The sanding on glass will remove the wear (it takes time, do not grind it, or use 8o grit. 220, then 400 or 600 will be fine. make circles to keep it flat. JimN
