Super M Hydraulic Reservoir

I have a Super M (data plate says so), serial number 11,000 ish, with the engine mounted hydraulic pump. I do not have the reservoir for this but was told I could install an M reservoir/pump in the belly without the coupling. I have an M reservoir, (5027 is on the casting) but it does not fit! Bolt holes line up but it won't go in the last 1/2 inch. It appears to be hanging up on the clutch round stubs that stick out. Does this make sense? Guess I need to find the below gas tank reservoir somewhere?
Thanks! John

Look under parts and pieces headind at left of screen. Look for 53 super m hydraulic reservior for a picture I posted there at one time. Some real late M and ones from SM clear your clutch. Find one with the letter X or Y in date code and I think I remember some with a late W code with the same housing shape also. Think you can see a code ending in X in picture.

John I,m in for lunch now and don't care for time change or my spelling. Hit wrong key and didn't check but not much of a speller anyway. On the reservior, if buying one without being able to look at it the casting # on the reservior part of belly pump unit will be 5027-EE. 5027-ED or lower letters in alphabet won't work.

You will not get the M belly pump housing to fit into a SM. It won't clear the larger clutch. Been there, tried that....

All Super M's and the last 4-5 months worth of M production had the 12" clutch as opposed to the 11" used prior. Dad's '51 M was built in early Dec. '51 and has a 12" clutch.
