can anyone tell me if when changing a regular M to super M gears if the bearing cages have to be changed to make them fit. I know the shafts are different, and the i.d. of the gears themselves, I have counted the teeth of both regular and super, but is there anything else other than 50 and 47 teeth ring gears,,, thanks

Input shaft bearing cage on late M and SM is different than most M. On SM with live hydraulic a different front countershaft bearing retainer was used. Few different pinion shaft pilot bearings and retainer type used. But only thing you actualy have to change unless you have a real early M to install SM gears into, is SM counter shaft with gears, reverse idler gear and slider gears, first & reverse, second & third , fourth & fifth will slide on your main shaft.

After posting I remembered that first and reverse slider and constant mesh gear are the same for those tractors unless you have a early M. So eliminate those from have to be changed. If you have complete set of gears I would use the same set though.
