I work on a lot of the 2+2's. Can you explain to me what is hppening to your pumps. What kind of diesel are you using. I Have seen some problems with people using road diesel from service stations, which containes low sulfur. The older engines dont like that. If you think that you are having a lubrication problem i would install a 1/8 pipe tee in the block where the injection pump line connects and check the oil preasure. Pluggeg injectors, and return lines are hard on pumps also.

When you replace the pumps, is the oil lubrication line hooked up???

You need to change filters and check your fuel supply source. These two items are the cause of your problems, not the pump itself.

I agree that there has to be an underlying problem somewhere. Either in the fuel getting to the pump, either contaminated or something restricting the flow. If the fuel flow is too low it may cause problems because most fuel pumps are cooled and lubricated by the diesel going through the pump on its way to the injectors. Or it the type of pump your obtaining but more than one remaned or rebuilt pump going is odd. We have a "84 5288 that has the original pump and so far (knock on wood) have had no problems. Not sure if that helps but it really may be a fuel flow problem.

James

I'm no machanic but you have to have a problem somewhere else causing this.

Do use rebuilt, rebuild the one you have or buy new pumps.

Gary
