I need to know if I have a 113 or 123 engine on my 1948 Super A.

Serial No. 264761
Engine # 251069R1 (hope thats the right numbers that you need, it was right behind the oil filter and hard to read)

10-11-R (under the oil filter)

TX: It would have been C-113 from the factory, however that"s almost 60 years ago, probably had a couple of rebuilds since then. It could have been upgraded with a set of C-123 sleeves.

Some folks just don"t realize how many times some these old sleeved engines have been rebuilt. My Farmall 300 is now on it"s 6th set of pistons and sleeves, problbly close to 25,000 hours on the old girl. I don"t have the 300 anymore, but my dad and I installed 5 sets, and the second owner has done another set.

Thanks Hugh

Kind of figured it was a 113 for some reason but wasnt positive. Reason why I needed to know was I was ordering new belts and they had the 113 and 123 engines listed seperatly.

The tractor was my fathers, he bought it in 1949 new. While I have driven tractors all my life it was always my uncles that did all the work on the tractors, I just drove em. A cousin painted the tractor about 15 years ago but then it just sat in the barn after that. No telling what work on the engine has been done over the years.

Thanks again, you guys are great help.

The reason the belts are listed separately is that the 123 had a waterpump and used a longer belt. The waterpump could be added to the 113. If your fan belt goes around only two pulleys, you need one for a 113, if it goes around three pulleys you need one for a 123, it doeasn't matter what the engine actually is. I can't remember offhand whether the generator belts are the same, but I don't think so. The best thing to do is take the old belts in and match them up.

Just have two pulleys, no water pump.

I have the old belts and they arent in to bad of shape but starting to crack some so I figured might as well go ahead and replace them. Ill take them into a parts dealer here and see if they have them and if not then Ill just order them off the net.

Generator belts were listed seperate too.
