I have on the board a lot recently concerning problems with my hydraulic pump & have determined that I am just going to replace it with a new one. The tractor is a '51' M & has live hydraulics & is NOT the M&W pump. I just wanted to see if you guys had any "tips" or "helpful hints" on taking out the old & installing the new one. I have never did this before & needed any help I can get! Thanks

well, the cam gear does not align with the hydraulic pump gear in any particular tooth.

though, as suggested, you will save yourself re-timing the engine to the distributor if you do not turn the engine over when you are replacing the live pump.

Hi Granger,

Mark the distributor housing and the rotor as to their position. Exactly.

Do not turn the engine while you've got it apart.

Then, just replace the pump and make darned sure the distributor and rotor are lined up as before.

Is $560 a decent price for a new pump?
