I have a 404 industrial i think the serial tag
is unreadable can anyone send a good photo of one? And did this tractor have a live pto.

The 404 was made as; Farmall 404 (row crop), International 404 (utility), International 2404 (industrial), and International 2404 Lo Boy (low profile industrial). It was not available with a independent (live) PTO.

Gentlemen, Contrary to popular lore, the 404 did come out with an Independent PTO on some later models. My IH Parts manual 9-64 rev #2 shows the schematic parts breakdown of an Independant PTO for a 404. I've never seen one yet in real life but, it is in the 1964 parts manual

Makes sense that live PTO would be available on the 404. Wasn�t this the replacement for the 340 series? I know the 340 could have live PTO.

Never seen or heard of the 404 with live PTO. The manuals indicate the pto is not live. The 504s had live pto.

I believe the 404 is like the 444 and could have either type of PTO. My 2444 has a live 2 stage clutch type of PTO. But the non live one was an option.
Sorry no picture, try going to the photo section of this board under galleries and search for 404.
