Can someone please tell me what the broken piece of my plow bottom is called? I posted the picture in Help Identify. Thanks
James Martin

James: I'm not so sure landside is your answer on the broken section. The right of your photo is definitely landside, and the extreem left is the point. The dividing lines between parts is not quite as clear as it might be in the photo. I'm thinking your broken part, is part of the frog. You can follow this live in person better than any photo.

On any plow the section bolted to the plow beam, and to which all plow wear parts bolt to is the frog. The landside bolts along the left side of frog. The point-share bolts on front of frog. Some plows have a two piece point and share. Share is off to right on bottom. Bolted to the top right of the frog is the moldboard. Some plows have a replacable shin above the point, and on some the moldboard comes right across.

All this is for a right turning plow, left turning would be just opposite. I raise this as I see in your photo a dividing line on the landside, plus the point seems to be bolted to the broken part. I'm just not sure but if you follow the above, you can sort it out.

Thanks,
You are right, it is not the point or the landside. I will have to turn it upside down, clean it up and see how big of a piece it really is. James Martin

It appears to be the land slide. It usually starts about where it is broken and goes to the back of the plow bottom.

Actually, that would be LANDSIDE, without the "L", as in sLide.
