Just came by an OS6 in real nice condition. Need to know the year of this tractor. serial # OBKS 13166. Also wondering why this tractor of mine has the small aux. fuel tank on it like my MD. How hard is it to come by parts for this model and how many of these were produced. Thanks for any info you can give me on this model.

I have an OS 6 that is complete that I am willing to part out. The hood and gas tank are in excellent condition to restore. It also has nice inner fenders and a complete seat. I am located in Central Michigan if you are interested in anything. Superih@hotmail.com

You have a distillate or kerosene engine. Those engines are hard to start on those fuels so there is a small starting tank for gasoline. Just run it on gas, distillate is not available, and kerosene is more expensive and not worth the hassel. Originally it had shutters in front of the radiator that you closed until it warmed up on gas, then you switched it. I would class your tractor as rare, there were only 831 built. It was built in 1945. Another version the O6 has the full orchard fenders, 1962 of those. As you probably know both are variants of the W6, and has the same engine as the M. Engine parts and gaskets, seals, etc are available from Case-IH and many other places. Sheet metal parts, etc will be hard to find, if you need any. Mechanically you shouldn't have any trouble finding parts.

The tractor is either a kerosene or distillate tractor. Sheet metal parts are kind of hard to come by, but lots of mechanical parts are the same as W-6 parts (except for hand clutch)and are easier to find. Engine is same as M.
