Well, got the old beast back together early yesterday evening and chisel plowed a bit before dark, Brakes work fine, as does the diff lock. No leaks. The diff lock came in handy right away on the grass and it was nice to be able to hit that pedal when one wheel started to spin, get both tires pulling and just keep on moving. We'll see how it does long term, I guess. All I needed was a friction disk and some o-rings to fix it and since I had to take it apart anyway to do the brakes on the right, it can be a cheap experiment.

FYI, the foot valve shaft was badly corroded and rusted into a solid lump. There are no replacement parts available, either, I found. It took a bit of work to get it apart, but I cleaned off all the rust down to shiny metal and applied JB Weld to the shaft, sandng and filling again over and over until all the pits were filled and smooth to the original diameter, finishing off with very fine sandpaper. I then lubed it well and installed a boot over the shaft and the end of the cylinder to keep water from doing the same thing again. I've done similar thisnks in car/truck restoration (most notably the ball sockes on closed knuckle front axles) and it seems to hold up with seals in the long run.

Thanks for the help, guys.
