Talking to seller of a 39 H, in email discussion he mentions a knocking sound from front wheel, (his email below), wondering what this may be - front wheel bearings? Loose front wheel? Steering cam rocking back and forth? Thanks

Just drove it to a local tractor show this past weekend a mile each way, and did not notice any whine or noise. It shifts fine with no wobble in the front end. There did seem to be an occasional knocking noise coming from the front wheel? Steering is pretty tight.

definitly loose lugs: not a big deal to fix, but something that does need fixed if you are going to be using 5 th gear.

Had a 350D which had a wheel bearing bad, & it sounded like the whole front end was going to fall off. New bearings & races fixed everything up.

Knocking or clunking sounds usually from loose lug nuts.

Yep, and if they ain't loose now, they probably were sometime in the last 60 years and the holes in the rim or the hub might be eggshaped. BTDT Harley
