I am replacing the (original) coil on my 1943 H. I picked up an aftermarket Universal 6 volt coil at the tractor supply. Farmall is not one of the listed applications, but that's all they stock. Also, the two smaller terminals and main distributor wire connection are all on the same end on the replacement, opposite ends on the original. Is it worth opening the package for a try???

43, I agree with Jim, a universal after market 6 volt coil ought to be close enough in its primary winding resistance to be suitable for most all old tractor points n coil type of ignitions including Farmalls, notwithstanding a few which still ran some external ballast even at 6 volts I believe. You should match the coil with whatever polarity the tractors battery is, i.e. if its a Positive ground tractor the coils + wires to the distributor while of its a Negative ground the coils - wires to the distributor. It would still produce a spark regardless but its most efficient if wired correct.

It will work fine. Just won't look stock. Use longer wires if the originals are short. Not an issue. Negative term to distributor. Jimn
