I have a 4366 with the engine set at the stock 160 hp. How many drawbar horsepower would this tractor have? I want to buy an in-line ripper and don't want to get more ripper than I can pull.

If the engine is only putten out 160 you will lose about a 1/3 thru the drive line . Tweek the engine up to the 210Hp set and then it will handel 13 shanks well and not hurt the engine. But install a pyrometer and place the probe no more then 6 inches behind the turbo charger and never allow it to go above 950.

The engine is a reman that I installed last March. I can't turn it up for another 8 months or I will void my warranty. It has a pyrometer, the probe is in the manifold just before the turbo. The ripper I'm looking at is a 5 shank. The manufacturer says I need 35 - 40 drawbar horsepower per shank to pull it 16" deep, which is what I want to do. What do you think,,will it do it?

Well i realy can't say as i do not know your ground . Ya must be tryen to pull one of them DMI's as i have had a littel experance with one of them 5 shank ones behind a 3788 . We had to add more weight to it and i had to tweek the fuel as far as i felt safe before a melt down , and still did not have enough tractor on it but that was in the ground we have here in Northeast ohio with anywhere between 4-12 inches of top soil and someplaces sand and other place yellow clay that can be as hard as the payment on the interstate.
