Just bought a B , and changing all the fluids. My oil pressure reads in the white while running, but in the red at idle. Is this ok? My Super M seems to have a higher pressure reading at running, and idle. Any ideas? Thanks, Steve

Farmall said to use straight 30 weight. Never hade a problem. Check the manual. Good luck,
Charles

Stick a quart of Lucas oil stabilizer in er with 20-50 oil and watch it go up. My 400 reads 70 cold and 55-60 hot and 45 at low idle hot.

quite normal. Mite want to get a guage that reads lbs and it probably read 10 or better when warm.

I would use 20w50.

If the oil does not do the trick, try flattening the oil pump cover. Lots of them are well worn and may be the problem instead of bearings. Owners will replace bearings and not touch the oil pump then sell the tractor because the oil pressure is still low.

If you are using 10-30 oil, that may contribute to the problem. I would use 15W 40 Oil to see if it makes a substantial change. Straight wt oil is also good if you change it out in the winter so it will start. If the engine is sound, and makes no "extra" noise, I would try the oil change first. Many modern engines that are not worn out idle at less than 10 PSI at Idle with 10-30 oil, (or 5-30) in the newer cars. It does not hurt a bit.
Good luck, JimN
