I'm sick of dealing with this darn thing, I wanna know if everything is wired right because the battery runs down if I don't un-hook it. Also if you guys can make it out- which one is the power terminal on the light switch.

Google 6 volt to 12 volt conversion. You should get "Recommendations for 12 Volt Conversions" by Genesee Products. Jim-Pac rectifiers works as well as diodes. GA Dave.

The small red wire that you have going from amp guage to ign. switch should be wired to fuse holder(not ign.sw.). Then run a wire from fuse holder to light switch. The way it's wired now, I believe you're feeding alternator all the time, even with switch off.

the white wire off the alt should go to the black wire off the resistor. The blue wire off alt should go to the amp + post. But I dont see a blue wire at the instrument panel?????

shoot me an email. I'll get you going

I have a diagram in a sheet protector and i have followed it, the only thing I am missing is a warining light or one-way diode.

O.k. I got the whole picture now.

#1.. the gray wire needs to be on pos post on amp. If not switch the gray and big red around.

#2 take the little red wire from the key switch to the amp and hook it with the gray wire.

#3 take the green wire on the switch and hook it with the black on the switch and it should run like a champ..

1. Will the tractor start with the switch off.

2. Disconnect everything and start over and hook up one by one.

3. Make sure to follow mfg.diagram or get one of Bob M

4. Somewhere you are going to find a wire that is hot (voltage) when it should not be.

Have you looked for Bob M. wiring diagrams that are in the archives? I did not see a diode or a warning light in your pictures. I am so poor in electrical knowledge, that I was afraid to say this much.

Can't see in the picture how you have the plug wired so I'll just tell you how it should be and also the reason why it maybe getting hot. Its most likely that its getting hot when your chargeing it because you have the #1 and #2 terminals wire backwards and you are keep the excite part of the alternator hot/voltage to it all the time. Now heres how it should be wired and you also need a doide or lite or you will have other problem. The #1 terminal goes to the ignition switch the side that is off when the switch is off. The #2 terminal goes to the big lug on the alternator. Now if its wired that way and you don't have a lite blub or doide in the wire going to the switch you will not be able to turn the engine off because the alternator will back feed the ignition
