I just put new rear tires on my 1066. 18.4-38 Firestone all traction bias. The tractor was sitting low in the back and I thought the new rubber would bring it up to being level. It helped but still sitting low in the rear end. I'm running 10.00X16 Firestone four rib in the front.

Should I change fronts to something like an 11L-15 to get this tractor leveled out? Tractors that set low in the rear bug me.....bad.

That's the way they are supposed to be.

If'n you wanted it to sit level, you should've put 20.8x38s on the rear.

We have a 10x16 on the ft. of the 1066 but it is a three rid and the tractor set fairly level with 18.4x38 field and roads on it and i know that the All traction field and roads are taller . Also the 4 rib does stand taller about 3thee inches . Now i am not real sure as to what was stock on the 10's for ft. tires as far as a 15 or a 16 but all the ones i have been around have been on the 16 . On my 806 it is on 15's the 706 is on 16. Now if ya would have put 20.8 on the back you would be running down hill.

Thanks for the input. I don't live far from Bates Corp. I'll see what they have on hand and may be able to do some horse trading with my 16" wheels.

The 11Lx15 was the standard tire they used.

Wick,

I've never owned a 1066, but I'm pretty darned sure that they had 15" fronts.

That is correct 15" was standard on the 66 series.

They went to 16" on 86 series.

Yes Sir,

And, I'm pretty darned sure that they came standard with 18.4s and not the 20s back in the day.

Allan: You and Gary are right, standard tires on a 1066 was 18.4x38 rear and 11Lx15 front. In 1975 20.8x38 and 10.00x16 were optional. I speced my tractor out with dealer and ordered it, is how I remember.

Some 10's down here have 11.00-16s on them. We see 15s on a lot of 966s.

Mitch: My memory is bit rough on this, I remember what was standard and remember what I ordered. I do remember there were other sizes. I have seen 1066s with great wide rear tire, I think was 30.5x32 and they had IH wedge lock rear hubs, so that must have been and IH option. I can also remember seeing a set of 24.5 wide duals but can remember the height. I'm thinking they were 32" high as well.
