My Farmall C is overheating and we can't figure out why. Any ideas? Thermo-syphon system. No water pump, No thermostat. Pressure radiator cap.

I'm with gene on this, those water passages are about the size of a nickel and there are only 4 of them. If you take the bottom water inlet off and shine a light in that lower water chamber, they are in the top of it.

A Super C water pump would bolt right on. All you would need to change is the fan belt and the generator belt. The top (adjustable) mount on the generator would move to the water pump. Super C belts will work as they are just a little longer than the ones you have.

The passages in the block at the bottom of the sleeves are probably plugged. You can remove the radiator and take off the lower outlet then back flush with water and compressed air get the crud out way too many have the radiators messed with when the problem is in the block. You can also add a water pump from a SC as it just bolts on where the lower outlet is and a longer fan belt Dont need to change anything else this has been done quite often and works good.

Other than something obvious like a loose fan belt, your radiator is probably plugged. You can take it to a radiator shop to be cleaned, it may fall apart, that happened to mine. If so new radiators are available. Be sure to get one for a thermosiphon system as I believe the water pump ones have smaller passages. You can try some of the radiator flush stuff, nothing to lose, I doubt if it helps much.

Common problems in order of appearance:

Loose fan belt
Dirt or chaff in radiator fins
Load too heavy
Passages blocked by crud or inside of hose loose
Bad head gasket
Very late timing

It does not need a pressure radiator cap. Does it help to run it with the cap loose? My C boils over once and a while just to let me know it's thinking.
