I posted a few days ago about trans issues w/ the SA well the trans oiler on the countershaft has all its teeth stripped off, the trans oil was milky so my guess is its aluminum and the first gear is steel and it seized from corrosion, change the oil and fished the al. bits out. trans isn't making noises now but a tear down is in the future, where is a good source for SA parts or should or do the dealers have parts?

the trans oil was milky in the SA so I'm sure something like that happened, tried to get a hold of one salvage yard and the are off for the week for the red power roundup. was hoping to save shipping if they had the part, going down thurs. or fri.

There are a lot of those aluminum oil slinger gears with the teeth sheared off. My theory is that the transmission gets water in it and the aluminum gears gets frozen in the water. When you start the tractor, the gear can't turn so the aluminum teeth shear off. The steel gears are able to break the ice and turn it to slush. My B had all the teeth off that gear. I suspect that after the initial teeth are sheared off that the others eventually get sheared off to as they catch and try to mesh. Roger
